- There is a lot of room for funny between Dana Carvey as the Church Lady and The Family Circus.

- They're not reading between the lines. Grandpa Joe was a true dickweed. Nevertheless, it's unfortunate that the webmasters (and I use the term loosely) are so artless in their attacks. They'd obviously given a lot of thought to the movie, but when it came to ennumerating the man's flaws, they leaned too heavily on record and too lightly on response. It's boring as sin. There are ways to take a moral stance--or faux-moral posture--while maintaining humor and, most importantly, not sinking to the level of one's subject. Condescension can serve this end, as it did for Dana Carvey in his portrayal of the Church Lady. Carvey's mandate of superiority came from the bible, but it's hard to tell why the authors of SNtGJ feel they're entitled to judge him. Are they outraged parents, speaking from a need to protectively envelop their children from the harsh realities of crotchety old men? Honestly, they seem more like sheltered man-children who left their house just long enough to glimpse the evils of one fairly outdated movie--itself about characters from the Great Depression--and then ran back inside to the comfort of an internet connection (which must, for the sake of the simile, work only to connect them to this one site) to start propagating their small-minded views.

- I think you're reading in between the lines and taking Grampa Joe's words out of context. I came openminded, but leave with nothing except amazement that someone actually devotes a site to this.
