Yeah, I guess I was what was "stinking up the joint." Way to pass the blame.
The only things I have in common with Grandpa Joe are my maladroit detracters.
Loompa (December 17, 2004 9:09:03 pm)
A guy spends a few months off on vacation hunting Vermicious Knids and returns to find an ass basket like Cda A. Aah (what the hell kind of pseudonym is that, anyway?) stinking up the joint. He and Grandpa Joe ought to hang out together. They seem to have a lot in common.
Grandpa Moe (December 10, 2004 10:52:42 pm)
So the spy Grandpa Joe spent ten years in a bed just to get inside Mr. Wonka's factory and he just so happen to be the grandfather one of the golden ticket winners. That is a stretch if I ever read one. The real spy was the fat oompa loompah, notice his overacting and always in front of the camera?!
Dan the Man (December 5, 2004 11:08:53 am)
Loved it!

Wow, it only took you how many years to realize this is a commentary on society (40 for those of you scoring at home)? Nice detective work!

I think this site kicks Oopa-Asss! Just the obsession itself is intriguing. To be into something, anything to such a degree, makes a person vastly more interesting than most. Next, do some Disney dog movie (pick one).

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was/is my all-time favorite children's book... The movie is, indeed, deeply disturbed and Gene Wilder makes Wonka come off as a pedophile. That's not how Roald Dahl intended it, though. Well, I mean, I don't think so. Hm. Come to think of it, Dahl probably was a slightly disturbed individual as well. No normal brain could have come up with Witches and BFG. *shrug* Whatever. You guys all have WAY too much time on your hands. It's called getting a life.
Bronchial Statue (November 12, 2004 3:37:53 pm)
I never understood why Mrs. Bucket allowed her lout of a father, who somehow got his hands on a Wonka Bar while being bed-ridden for 20 years, to accompany Charlie to the Wonka Factory. If I were her, after he finished his Golden Ticket dance, I would have trapped his bean bag in the clothes ringers, and ran out to the factory with Charlie. With his mom there, there would never have been any of that business with the Fizzy Lifting Drink, that's for sure. Grampa Joe is a bad influence on Charlie. I bet the factory closed within a year due to costs involving repeated and excessive sterilization of the equipment in the Fizzy Lifting Drink room. I want you to name one household where both sets of in-laws lay in the same bed for years on end. It's apparent that Mr. Bucket is either dead or has run off with his secretary. Assuming the former, it's somewhat acceptable to have the in-laws around. Assuming the latter, Mrs Bucket is a moron. Her husband cheats on her, but she works as a washwoman to support her scumbag husband's parents. I assume this is the case because it is apparent that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Although it isn't made very clear, Grampa Joe's surname is certainly Bucket. Grampa Joe is a scumbag who raised a scumbag son who ran out on his family.

I love your site. Finally, the truth is out. I have always loved this book, but Gramps made me uncomfortable - he rather reminds me of my creepy uncle wally, ever-ready with a nice super-wet, formaldehyde-scented kiss for the unsuspecting niece (or nephew) who got too close.

If there are 2 Oompa Loompas and they are joined by 3 more, how many Oompa Loompas are there?
