- I call this site the Passion of Grampa Joe. In fact, I think that Grampa Joe will be made a Saint. Grampa Joe found the strength within him (even though he SHOULD stay in bed or else he'll get a cold and die) to go with Charlie to the Factory. If he hadn't done this Charlie would have had to go to the Factory alone. Mrs. Bucket had to stay behind and work otherwise the other old people would starve. Secondly, the 'I' in the Golden ticket song is not meant to refer to him personally, it was CHARLIES song to, it was a rhetorical phrase signifying that a ticket had entered their home. Thirdly, he 'raised' Charlie's hopes because it was all Charlie had to live for. Chris Reeve thought he would walk again because it gave him the will to go on, just like Grampa Joe kept hope alive in Charlie for a better tomorow. It was fate that Charlie got the ticket, some say a miracle and Grampa Joe had the faith. He obviously has a saint of a grandson who loved him so much that he would buy him tobacco out of his meager earnings. Charlie would not accept no for an answer, and what does Grampa Joe do?? He takes this generosity and turns it into something good he can do for Charlie. Come on, he's an old man, he doesn't want the fucking Choclate; HE BOUGHT IT BECAUSE OF HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR CHARLIE AND HOPING TO GIVE HIM THE PROVERBIAL TICKET OUT OF HIS POVERTY!!! ANY AND ALL of Grampa Joe's sexual trangressions made upon Charlie are thus justified in my book.

- I always knew that there was something about that old bastard Grandpa Joe that just rubbed me the wrong way, but I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Now I know that there are so many others who feel as I do. I no longer feel so alone in the world. Thank you for opening my eyes.

- I'm shocked that you didn't mention the bedpans. Not only has grandpa joe been mooching and spending the food money on tobacco while hoarding his OWN money, but he has literally made Charlie and/or his poor mother wipe his ass for 20 years.
